The Motor Archive is independent. These are the rules we work by.
Independence
- No one pays for our coverage. Manufacturers, importers, dealers and event organisers cannot buy a story, a better verdict, or a place on our homepage.
- No one approves our stories before publication. We may check a fact with a manufacturer. We never send them the text or the verdict for approval.
- Accreditation is access, not approval. Being accredited to a show or launch doesn’t oblige us to write about it, or to write about it positively.
Paid content
- We currently publish no sponsored content and no affiliate links.
- If that changes, paid content will be labelled “Sponsored” at the top. It will be kept separate from First Looks, Show Reports and Market stories, and will never be written as if it were editorial.
- Advertising, if we ever carry it, will be clearly marked as advertising and has no influence on what we write.
Trips, loans and hospitality
When a manufacturer pays for travel or accommodation, or lends us a car, we say so at the end of the story. Those arrangements don’t buy coverage.
Facts, prices and dates
- Specifications come from the manufacturer, and we name the source in every spec box.
- Prices are list prices in the show’s own market (CHF for Swiss shows, euros elsewhere) or prices displayed at a show, with the date. Show prices are labelled as such.
- First Looks are first impressions of a car seen in person, not drive reviews. We say which one a story is.
- Publish dates are real. Archive coverage shows both the date it was published and when and where it was filmed.
Photos and video
- Our photos and video are our own and credited to the person who shot them.
- Manufacturer images are used under their press terms and credited.
- We edit images for light, colour and crop only. We never alter what a car looks like.
- We don’t publish AI-generated images or video of real cars.
AI tools
We use AI tools to help with research, drafting and translation. Every story is checked, edited and approved by our editor, who takes responsibility for it.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and say so. Corrections are noted at the end of the story with the date. To report an error, write to [email protected].
