Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Up Close: 33 Cars, V6 Or Electric, And All Of Them Sold Before Paris

Alfa Romeo's coachbuilt homage to the 1960s Tipo 33 stood in Paris as a showpiece for a sold-out run. We filmed it on the Alfa Romeo stand.

Alfa Romeo builds just 33 examples of the 33 Stradale, each with either a twin-turbo V6 or an electric powertrain, and all of them found owners within weeks of the reveal. So the red car on the Alfa Romeo stand at the Paris Motor Show 2024 was a showpiece. Nobody in Paris could buy one.

We filmed it there on the show days. In our photograph the car sits on a low plinth with a door raised, and a crowd of visitors gathers at the edge.

A Coachbuilt Car From Alfa’s Own Studio

Alfa Romeo announced the 33 Stradale on 30 August 2023. Its Centro Stile designed the car and Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera builds it, according to the Stellantis North America release. That release calls it a dedicated programme of 33 units.

The AUTO TV walkaround calls it a modern homage to the Tipo 33 race car of the 1960s, with a shape that carries that racing pedigree. On the stand, the low nose, the narrow lamp with its row of small lights and the bronze wheels tell the same story.

The wall behind the car carries Alfa Romeo lettering. Alfa showed it as a piece of the brand, so it stood there as a statement and not as a product on sale.

One Body, Two Powertrains

Our video title pairs an “electric beast” with “V6 twin-turbo beauty”, and that is the choice owners had. Both powertrains go into the same body.

Alfa’s release gives more than 620 hp for the V6 and more than 750 hp for the electric version, which has an estimated 450 km of WLTP range. Both reach 100 km/h from rest in under three seconds, and the top speed is 333 km/h.

Auto Express reported on 27 November 2024 that the car hit its expected 207 mph top speed in testing at Nardò, with the first deliveries due that December. One of them went to Valtteri Bottas, who helped develop the car.

Butterfly Doors And A Bare Cabin

The AUTO TV walkaround points to the butterfly doors, and our photograph shows one raised. It also says the interior is stripped back on purpose, with no fancy touchscreens.

The walkaround calls each car a bespoke creation tailored to its owner. That fits a run of 33 cars built by a coachbuilder.

Our Take

The AUTO TV walkaround treats the 33 Stradale as more than a car. It calls it a love letter to Alfa’s past and a bold statement about its future, a poster car for the 21st century.

We agree, and the numbers back it up. With only 33 cars, the 33 Stradale is a brand statement, and Paris was where the public could finally see one up close.

Its limit is access, because every car was spoken for before the show opened. The walkaround’s hope is that some of that passion finds its way into the Alfas people can actually buy.
