Subaru Solterra First Look: 343 PS And A Face That Is No Longer Toyota’s

The update brings a bigger battery, 125 PS more and up to 532 km of WLTP range in Switzerland, where every Solterra comes with ten years of warranty.

Subaru has given the Solterra a face of its own, and 343 PS to go with it. A lit six-star badge, new headlights and a reshaped bumper now separate it from the Toyota bZ4X and Lexus RZ, which share its platform, according to auto motor und sport.

The two motors add up to 252 kW (343 PS), 125 PS more than before, and Subaru Switzerland quotes up to 532 km of WLTP range. We filmed the car at Auto Zürich on the show days, 29 to 31 October 2025.

A Bigger Battery For Colder Mornings

The update premiered in New York in April 2025. The battery grows from 71.4 to 73.1 kWh, and the German press material gives 5.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. The towing limit doubles from 750 to 1,500 kg.

A new preconditioning system keeps the pack at charging temperature in cold weather. That matters on a Swiss winter commute, and Subaru Switzerland lists 28 minutes for a 10 to 80 per cent charge.

A Modest Charging Peak

The Solterra charges at up to 150 kW on DC, according to auto motor und sport. That is a modest peak for a 73.1 kWh pack in 2026. For comparison, Porsche quotes up to 270 kW for the Macan 4 Electric.

The 28-minute figure is Subaru’s answer, and it depends on the preconditioning working as described.

A 14-Inch Screen And A Roof Without A Bar

Inside, a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and two 15-watt wireless chargers are new. The panoramic roof loses its centre bar.

The Solterra on the stand is blue-grey with a black lower front and Bridgestone tyres. The AUTO TV walkaround calls the update a mid-cycle refresh. Outside, it picks out the lit star cluster in the grille, the sharper LED headlights and optional 20-inch wheels. Inside, it shows the new 14-inch screen, the wireless phone charging and the free-standing digital gauge cluster.

Ten Years Of Warranty In Every Swiss Car

Subaru Switzerland lists the Solterra from CHF 43,990 in the Advantage trim, with Classic and Luxury above it. On 15 October 2026 its website marked that price “Angebot gültig bis 30.09.2026”, so that offer has lapsed.

Every Swiss Solterra carries the SWISS-EDITION package at no extra cost. It means ten years or 200,000 km of warranty and a CHF 700 voucher for winter wheels.

The walkaround quotes American range and price figures, in miles and dollars, so the figures here come from Swiss and European sources. As for the flag, Blick, Automobil Revue and auto-illustrierte list the Uncharted, not the Solterra, among Subaru’s Swiss premieres. Our Auto Zürich 2025 report reads it as the stand’s own wording.

Our Take: Worth A Second Look

Our AUTO TV walkaround makes the case that Subaru “took every complaint” about the original Solterra and answered it with new looks, more range, better cold-weather charging and more power. We call it a flawed but promising first attempt turned into a competitive electric SUV.

Our advice is that anyone who dismissed the original should look again. On the Swiss numbers we have a case. A 343 PS all-wheel-drive electric SUV from CHF 43,990, with ten years of warranty included, is a strong offer on paper.
