Ferrari 296 GTB Up Close: An 830-PS Plug-In V6 On A Warsaw Red Carpet

A red 296 GTB stood on a red carpet at the Warsaw Motor Show 2023, beside a blue Porsche 911 and a blue Lamborghini. Its plug-in battery is small, because Ferrari built the car around the V6.

The Ferrari 296 GTB makes 830 PS from a 3.0-litre V6 and an electric motor. We found a red one on a red carpet in Warsaw.

We filmed it at the Ptak Warsaw Expo on 13 October 2023. A blue Porsche 911 stands beside it in our photographs, and the sign behind reads “CYLINDERSI”.

How The 830 PS Adds Up

According to auto motor und sport, the 2,992 cc V6 makes 488 kW and a 122 kW electric motor adds to it. The system output is 610 kW (830 PS) with 740 Nm, and all of it goes to the rear wheels.

AUTO BILD, reporting in July 2022, quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 330 km/h.

A Berlinetta Drawn In-House

The AUTO TV walkaround calls the 296 GTB the Prancing Horse’s next berlinetta and a bold step into electrification. It says the body, drawn in-house, carries active aerodynamic elements, and it describes a retro-futuristic interior with an all-digital instrument cluster.

From the front, the details hold up on a stand. A body-coloured nose with a yellow shield badge, narrow slit headlamps and a honeycomb lower intake sit under a long, low bonnet.

The car is also compact for an 830-PS machine. It is 4,565 mm long, 1,958 mm wide and 1,187 mm high on a 2,600 mm wheelbase, according to auto motor und sport. The boot holds 202 litres (VDA).

A Small Battery By Design

The battery is 7.5 kWh gross, and auto motor und sport quotes 25 km of electric range on the WLTP cycle. So the hybrid system serves the performance, and 25 km does not make this an everyday electric car.

Above It, A GTS And A Speciale

Autozeitung lists the 296 GTB as the 2021 car and the convertible 296 GTS as the 2022 car, at about €300,000. The 296 Speciale, presented in April 2025, costs €407,000 in its table.

The Speciale has a 700-PS V6 and 880 PS in total, and Autozeitung gives its weight as 1,410 kg. So the GTB that we filmed in Warsaw is the entry point to the family.

What It Costs In Germany

AUTO BILD listed the 296 GTB from €266,000 on 23 July 2022. Autozeitung put it at about €269,000 in April 2025, and gave €33,000 for the optional Assetto Fiorano package.

Those are German list figures, and the two dates bracket the show. Autozeitung’s own conclusion gives the Speciale as €395,000, which conflicts with its table, so we quote the table.

Our Take

The AUTO TV walkaround treats the 296 GTB as a new era for Ferrari. It calls the car passionate and sensual, and stresses that the V6 and the electric motor work together.

On the stand it is a compact, low and very red coupé. The numbers back the walkaround’s framing, because 830 PS from a V6 is the headline and a 25 km electric range is the footnote.
