Ford Mustang GT Convertible Up Close: A 446 PS V8, No Turbo, Roof Down

Ford Germany sells the Convertible only as a GT. We filmed this grey example on the Thuringian Ford dealers' stand in Erfurt on 23 and 24 January 2026.

Every Mustang on Ford Germany’s price list has a 5.0-litre V8 with no turbo, and the Convertible comes only as a GT. The V8 makes 328 kW (446 PS) on Ford’s list, with a six-speed manual or a ten-speed automatic.

That is the whole engine choice. A grey GT Convertible stood on the Thuringian Ford dealers’ stand at Automobilmesse Erfurt with its roof folded away.

A Black Pack On Carbonized Grey

We filmed the car on the show days. It has a black honeycomb grille, a black pony, black mirror caps and black wheels on grey metallic paint. The front plate reads “Mustang” and “Ihre Thüringer FORD-Händler”.

The open cabin and the visible windscreen header show a Convertible, which settles a question our Erfurt show report left open.

The black details match Ford’s Nite Pony package, announced in April 2024 for the GT coupe and convertible. The AUTO TV video names the same package and the colour Carbonized Grey Metallic, although the photograph alone cannot prove either.

Two Screens And A Heated Cabin

A 12.4-inch digital cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen are standard on the GT. So are a B&O sound system with 12 speakers, heated and ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel (Ford Germany’s price list).

The AUTO TV walkaround shows the cluster flowing into the touchscreen and lists the B&O system and the seat heating. It also points out that the roof folds flat and that the profile keeps the coupe’s silhouette.

The V8 Sets The Fuel Bill

Ford’s WLTP figure is 12.3 l/100 km for the manual and 12.4 for the automatic. CO2 is 280 and 282 g/km, in CO2 class G.

ADAC lists a kerb weight of 1,876 kg for the Convertible, so the V8 carries a heavy open body.

Four Seats, 310 Litres, One Electric Roof

ADAC lists four seats and a 310-litre boot, which the walkaround says takes two weekend bags. Ford fits an electric black fabric roof as standard.

The standard equipment also includes 19-inch Brembo brakes and an active four-tailpipe exhaust with four selectable modes. The GT’s standard setup is a sport suspension, and adaptive dampers are a €2,000 option.

Where The Money Goes

Ford Germany’s price list, valid from 6 July 2026, puts the GT Convertible at €68,400 with the manual and €71,900 with the automatic. Prices include 19 per cent VAT and exclude delivery charges.

The options add up. Nite Pony costs €1,300, Carbonized Grey Metallic paint €900 and the adaptive dampers €2,000, so a manual car with all three lists at €72,600. The fastback runs from €62,400 (GT) to €78,500 (Dark Horse automatic).

ADAC lists the same two Convertible prices for cars built from September 2025, so they probably applied at the show, although neither source is dated January. Cars built from March 2024 to September 2025 are listed at €65,000 and €68,000.

Price The Options First

A manual Convertible with the black pack, grey paint and adaptive dampers costs €700 more than the base automatic. ADAC shows no change in Ford’s list since September 2025.

Our Take

The AUTO TV walkaround treats the Mustang GT Convertible as a V8 open car at a time when its rivals have moved to turbos. It names the BMW M4 Competition Convertible and the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet as the cars to cross-shop.

Its case rests on design and equipment, from the black styling pack and the flat-folding roof to the two screens and standard Brembo brakes. Ford’s list confirms the equipment, and that makes the GT a fair shortlist car for an open-top V8 buyer.
