Ford’s new Capri puts a famous coupé name on a sloping-roof electric SUV, and the useful part is the boot. It holds up to 572 litres according to Ford, and the AUTO TV walkaround points out that it swallows nine carry-on suitcases.
We filmed the grey car at MotionExpo Graz and photographed it on Sunday, 16 March 2025. It stood on the Jagersberger stand beside a Hyundai Inster, with its price sheets in a holder.
An Explorer With A Lower Roof
The Capri shares its platform with the boxier Explorer, as the walkaround points out, and Ford builds both at its Cologne Electric Vehicle Center, according to its July 2024 release. The Capri adds a lowered suspension and a sleeker profile.
The two AUTO TV videos take the name head on. The first frames the badge question as sacrilege or smart business, and the second says the car brings an iconic nameplate into the electric age.

Three Batteries, And 5.3 Seconds At The Top
Ford Austria sells the Capri with three drivetrains, all with an automatic gearbox.
- The 52 kWh car has 125 kW (170 PS) and rear-wheel drive, with 370 to 393 km of WLTP range.
- The 77 kWh car has 210 kW (286 PS) and rear-wheel drive, with 590 to 627 km.
- The 79 kWh car has 250 kW (340 PS) and all-wheel drive, with 552 to 592 km.
The video calls the 77 kWh car the sweet spot, and Ford Austria gives it up to 627 km WLTP.
The all-wheel-drive car is the quick one. Ford’s own line is “as little as 5.3 seconds” for the 340 PS version. Charging there peaks at 185 kW, and Ford quotes about 26 minutes for 10 to 80 per cent.
A Screen That Slides Up To Show A Locker
The 14.6-inch portrait screen moves up and down, and a storage space sits behind it. Ford calls the system SYNC Move.
Below it, Ford fits a 17-litre MegaConsole between the front seats. Together with the 572-litre boot, that gives the Capri more room for luggage than its roofline suggests.
What Each Trim Adds
Ford Austria’s list names three trims. Style already has LED headlights, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, front parking sensors, a seven-speaker audio system with soundbar and the 14.6-inch screen, on 19-inch steel wheels.
Select moves to 19-inch aero alloy wheels. Premium adds Matrix LED headlights, 20-inch aero wheels, a heated steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, multicolour ambient lighting, a 12-way memory driver’s seat with massage function and a powered tailgate.
The Roofline Costs Rear Headroom
The sloping roof is the Capri’s design, and it has a price in the back. The AUTO TV walkaround points out that rear headroom is tight for taller passengers.
From €40,290 On The Windscreen, €43,700 On The List
At the show, the windscreen sign read “Capri ab € 40.290,00” (Jagersberger, photographed 16 March 2025).
Twelve days after the show, Ford Austria’s website showed an “Aktionspreis Capri € 32.490,–” with a €5,000 “Umstiegsbonus” (archive copy of 28 March 2025, conditions not stated).
Today, Ford Austria’s list runs from €43,700 for the 52 kWh Style to €58,300 for the all-wheel-drive Premium, valid from 1 September 2025. The 77 kWh rear-wheel-drive car costs €50,600 in Select and €54,600 in Premium. Prices include NoVA and 20 per cent VAT, and metallic paint starts at €700.

Our Take
The AUTO TV walkaround’s verdict is that the Capri is a competent electric SUV in its own right, even if it may not capture the spirit of the original coupé.
The numbers carry that case. Ford Austria gives the 77 kWh car up to 627 km WLTP and the boot up to 572 litres, and today’s list runs €14,600 from the cheapest Capri to the dearest.
Before you choose a Capri over the boxier Explorer, sit in the back behind a tall driver. The roofline is the price of the design.
