GAC opened its European business in Poland with two electric SUVs. The Emkoo Hybrid is a full hybrid that never needs a plug, and that makes it a different kind of offer. Poland got it first in Europe in March 2026, and we photographed it on GAC’s stand at the Warsaw Motor Show.
Why Poland Came First
GAC is a Chinese manufacturer, and it chose Poland as its door into Europe. AutoCentrum wrote in September 2025 that Poland was the first EU country where GAC started operating. It came with the importer Jameel Motors, a showroom in Warsaw and two electric models, the Aion V and the Hyptec HT.
In March 2026 GAC added the Emkoo Hybrid and the Emzoom. AutoCentrum called Poland “the first country in Europe where the two newest models debuted”. Otomoto repeated the claim in May, in a headline saying Poland got the car first in Europe.
The Nose Does The Talking
The car on the stand is grey, with a “GAC Jameel Motors Warszawa” plate reading “EMKOO”. Its nose is the most distinctive thing about it. A large grille of angled black slats slopes in opposite directions on either side of a round GAC badge, with narrow LED lights above and a slim vertical light unit at the corner.
A silver strip runs along the lower edge of the bumper, and the car stands on black alloy wheels. Behind it are a GAC logo wall, a white armchair, a plant and a second GAC model parked at the right.

A Hybrid In The Toyota Mould
The Emkoo Hybrid is a full hybrid, so there is no charging cable and no plug-in range. AutoCentrum, Auto Świat and Otomoto all describe it as a “classic” hybrid that needs no charging, and Otomoto compared it to Toyota’s systems. A 2.0-litre petrol engine works with a multi-speed hybrid transmission to drive the front wheels.
It is 4,680 mm long, 1,901 mm wide and 1,670 mm high, on a 2,750 mm wheelbase. GAC claims 4.5 to 4.8 litres per 100 km, depending on the outlet quoting it. Auto Świat lists 0 to 100 km/h in about 8 seconds.
Two Numbers Nobody Agrees On
This is where the Emkoo is hard to judge. AutoCentrum and Otomoto gave its system output as 192 hp in March, while Auto Świat in April and Otomoto in May gave 232 hp. Boot space was given as 181 to 1,859 litres in March and as 638 to 1,586 litres in April.
That leaves a buyer unable to compare its power or its boot with a rival’s. We have not found a GAC document that settles either figure, so we leave both out of our specs.
One Trim, One Option
Poland sells the Emkoo Hybrid in a single Luxury trim at 144,900 zł. Equipment includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera. The only paid option is metallic paint at 3,900 zł, and GAC gives a five-year warranty.
A Small Start In Poland
Sales so far are small. Auto Świat reported on 15 April, from IBRM Samar data, that GAC registered 8 new cars in Poland in March 2026 and 78 in the first quarter, against 4,137 for MG. Its author found the prices, looks and interior quality encouraging. He also wrote that selling only electric cars would not be enough to win the Polish market.
Our Take
We saw the Emkoo on a stand, not on the road, so this is a read of the car and the Polish press. From the car itself, GAC chose bold, unmistakable styling for its first European hybrid. And a plain hybrid with a Polish price list is a different offer from the electric SUVs GAC started with.
The next thing to watch is a euro price. Until GAC publishes one, the case for the Emkoo can only be made in złoty.
