Nissan has brought back the Micra as a small electric hatchback that shares its platform with the Renault 5. It is under four metres long and carries a 326-litre boot (Nissan, 21 May 2025). Nissan says it is built at Ampere’s plant in Douai, France.
Filmed at Brussels Motor Show 2026. We filmed the Micra EV on the Nissan stand on the show days, 9 to 13 January 2026, and put the walkaround on AUTO TV on 26 January.
It Shares Its Bones With The Renault 5
Nissan’s European release of 26 March 2025 says the Micra uses the AmpR Small platform shared with Renault’s R5 and “will be built at Ampere ElectriCity plant in Douai, France”. The wheelbase is 2.54 metres and the wheels are 18 inch (Nissan, 21 May 2025).
The car in our photograph is light blue with a black roof. Arcs of light sit above and below the headlamps, the Nissan badge is on the bonnet, and a MICRA plate sits over a black bumper with a silver strip.
The AUTO TV walkaround reads the circular daytime lights as a call back to the third-generation K12 Micra. It adds that the Micra won European Car of the Year as the first Japanese car, 32 years ago. The award’s own page calls the 1993 winner the first Car of the Year designed in Japan.
Two Screens, Google And A Mount Fuji
Inside, the video names two 10.1-inch screens running Google’s software, with Maps, Assistant and the Play Store, and an embossed Mount Fuji on the centre console. Nissan’s May 2025 release confirms the screens, Google built-in and a moulded Mount Fuji outline.
The walkaround points to physical climate buttons, which it says buyers will appreciate. It also says the rear is easy to enter and has decent space for a car under four metres.
The video calls the 326-litre boot significantly more than most rivals offer. It adds vehicle-to-load, a socket that powers outside devices, on both batteries.
The Small Battery Gives Up Speed And Range
Nissan Belgium’s release of 7 August 2025 lists a 40 kWh car with 90 kW and 319 km of WLTP range. The 52 kWh car has 110 kW and 419 km.
Nissan’s May 2025 release gives DC charging of up to 80 kW on the 40 kWh car and 100 kW on the larger one, about 30 minutes for 15 to 80 per cent. So the smaller battery costs 100 km of range and 20 kW of charging speed.
Nissan’s range figure moved during 2025. The global reveal on 21 May said 308 and 408 km, the European release of 11 September said up to 317 and 416 km, and the Belgian release says 319 and 419 km. This article uses the Belgian figures, with their date.
Four Prices Across Two Batteries
Nissan Belgium’s release of 7 August 2025 lists the Engage with 40 kWh at €29,250 and the Advance with 40 kWh at €31,450, including VAT. The Advance with 52 kWh is €34,450 and the Evolve with 52 kWh is €36,650, so the range runs from €29,250 to €36,650.
The Belgian catalogue on autogids.be, opened on 15 October 2026, shows the same four prices with no list date. Nissan Belgium said first deliveries would start in November 2025.

Our Take
The AUTO TV walkaround says the Micra EV might be the most important small car Nissan has built. It places the car between the budget Dacia Spring and the premium Peugeot e-208, and it ends on 43 years of Micra history reborn as an electric car.
On the Belgian list, the step between the two Advance cars buys the 52 kWh battery and its extra 100 km. That makes the €34,450 Advance the Micra we would price first.
