FIAT is going back to family cars. The Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback, two compact SUVs that FIAT aims to sell from around €20,000, made their European debut in Paris. FIAT showed them on an Italian piazza it built on its stand, complete with shopfronts and a turntable. Next to them stood the concept that had people opening every door: the Multiplay.
FIAT Grizzly And Grizzly Fastback
Back In The C Segment
The Grizzly takes FIAT back into the C segment, a class it hasn’t been in for years. Both bodies sit above the Grande Panda and share Stellantis’ Smart Car platform, and they’ll be sold in more than 100 countries. FIAT revealed them on 11 July, its 127th birthday, and previewed them in Turin in September before bringing them to Paris.
The two bodies cost the same, so the choice comes down to shape. The Grizzly (4.40 m) is upright, for cabin height and space. The Grizzly Fastback, under 4.5 m, has a sloping roof and more load length.
Petrol, Mild Hybrid And Electric
FIAT plans petrol, mild hybrid and fully electric versions, with up to 145 hp. The cars on the stand were “La Prima” launch editions with the 145-hp mild hybrid, which explains the “GRIZZLY HYBRID” plate.
The electric version is the open question. FIAT hasn’t published battery or range figures for it yet, so anyone waiting for the EV can’t compare it with rivals.
608 Litres Under 4.5 Metres
Space is how FIAT is selling them. The Grizzly’s boot holds 545 litres. The Fastback’s 608 litres is, FIAT says, the biggest in its class among cars under 4.5 metres. There’s 3.5 m³ of interior space overall.
Around €20,000, Orders From January
FIAT targets around €20,000 for both bodies, a figure quoted for the 100-hp petrol version. Prices for the other versions haven’t been published. European orders open on 5 January 2027.
Swiss visitors get their first look sooner. FIAT Switzerland says the Grizzly will be shown in Switzerland for the first time at Auto Zürich (5–8 November).
It is also on show at Auto Zürich 2026, 5–8 November; our Auto Zürich 2026 guide has the details.
“Revealing them on FIAT’s birthday was a natural choice. Because this is not just another launch.”
Olivier François, then FIAT CEO (July 2026)

FIAT Multiplay Concept

The Multiplay revives an old FIAT habit. The 1956 600 Multipla carried six people in about 3.5 metres, and the 1998 Multipla fitted six seats in two rows. The Multiplay, unveiled on the eve of the show, applies the same thinking to a 4.45-metre car. FIAT calls it “the space of an MPV, the character of an SUV and the functionality of a pick-up”.
The trick is the “Metamorfosi” C-pillar, a rear module that slides on guides. It turns a 6+1-seat family car into a four-seat pick-up with an open bed. The “+1” is FIAT’s “Petsenger” seat, for a child seat, a dog, a table or storage.
Park up and the front passenger seat folds into a rear-facing lounger, which FIAT calls “Sunseat”. The rear spoiler doubles as a rack for two bikes.
FIAT is clear that the Multiplay doesn’t preview a specific production model. It calls it inspiration for its future affordable family cars.
“Multiplay expresses a quality we want to bring to FIAT’s next chapter: the ability to make the car useful in everyday life.”
Arnaud Belloni, CEO of FIAT, Abarth and Lancia
Our Take: FIAT’s Most Interesting Family Cars In Years
In person, in its blue-grey launch colour with the chunky FIAT lettering across the nose, the Grizzly looks more expensive than its €20,000 target. The Multiplay is the one people stopped for, and we filmed its transformation for three minutes. If FIAT keeps half its ideas, the next family FIAT will be its most interesting in years. Swiss buyers can see the Grizzly for themselves at Auto Zürich.
