The new Santa Fe looks nothing like the car it replaces. It is upright and boxy, with a wide grille and a deep, square bumper, and we put the comparison in our video title as “Land Rover vibes”. Inside that body there is room for up to seven, and every Swiss version is a hybrid.
We filmed the bronze plug-in hybrid at Auto Zürich 2024 on the show days. A sign on its windscreen reads “4×4 Plug-in Hybrid. Bis zu 7 Sitzplätze”, which is exactly how Hyundai sells it in Switzerland. More from that show floor is in our Auto Zürich 2024 report.
Two Hybrids, Nothing Else
Hyundai Switzerland opened orders on 5 September 2024. Every Swiss Santa Fe has all-wheel drive and a hybrid system. Hyundai Switzerland’s dossier lists only the two hybrids, with no diesel.
The full hybrid makes 215 PS (158 kW). The plug-in makes 253 PS (186 kW) and has an electric range of 54 km, according to the same dossier. The car is 4.83 m long.
Five, Six Or Seven Seats
The Santa Fe seats five, six or seven. Calligraphy buyers can choose two individual second-row seats (Hyundai Switzerland).
Hyundai Switzerland’s boot table gives the plug-in 704 litres with seats up and 2,025 litres folded in the five-seat car. The six and seven-seat versions have 621 and 1,942 litres.
Inside, Two Screens And A Glovebox Trick
From the Amplia trim up, the dashboard carries two 12.3-inch curved displays, one for the driver and one for infotainment. The base Origo gets a 4.5-inch instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen (Hyundai Switzerland, 5 Sep 2024).
The AUTO TV walkaround says Hyundai kept physical controls for the important functions. It also points to a UV sterilisation compartment in the glovebox, which Hyundai Switzerland’s August 2023 release lists as a UV-C compartment.
A Third Row For Children
The walkaround is direct about the third row, which it calls best for children and short trips. That is the honest limit of a 4.83 m body with seven seats.
Where The Money Goes
The full hybrid ran from CHF 54,900 for the Origo to CHF 71,400 for the Calligraphy at the Swiss launch. The plug-in is offered only in the two top trims, at CHF 71,900 (Vertex) and CHF 74,900 (Calligraphy). All figures are Hyundai Switzerland’s, dated 5 September 2024.
The car on the Zürich stand carries the plug-in sign, so its price sits in the upper range.

Our Take
The AUTO TV walkaround calls the Santa Fe a bold move. It says the styling may split opinion, and that this is the point, because the SUV stands out among lookalikes. The photograph supports it. The square bumper, the two-tier grille and the square-edged headlamps give it a presence the old car lacked.
For Swiss buyers the plug-in is the interesting one, with 54 km of electric range under a seven-seat body. At CHF 71,900 it starts just above the top full hybrid’s CHF 71,400.
