Opel Mokka GSE First Look: 280 PS, Rally Parts And A 5.9-Second Sprint

Opel's most powerful electric production car so far is a front-wheel-drive crossover with a rally differential. Orders opened at the show, at €47,300 in Germany.

The Mokka GSE on Opel’s stand at IAA Mobility 2025, photographed on 8 September 2025. The Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept is partly visible behind it.

The Mokka GSE has 207 kW (280 PS), a Torsen limited-slip differential from Opel’s rally programme and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds, on Opel’s figures. That makes the front-wheel-drive crossover the most powerful battery-electric production car Opel has built, according to the brand.

We filmed it at IAA Mobility in Munich on the show days, 8 to 12 September 2025. The video, a visual review, went online on 18 September. Our IAA Mobility 2025 report covers the other cars we photographed at the show.

What Opel Took From The Rally Car

Automobile.at reports that Opel took the high-voltage parts, including battery, motor and inverter, from its rally project. The Torsen differential sits on the front axle, and the chassis is lowered by 10 mm with double hydraulic dampers. Steering, brakes and suspension tuning are specific to this model.

The front brakes are 380 mm discs with yellow calipers. The wheels are 20-inch alloys on Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres, and Opel quotes a kerb weight below 1,600 kg.

The hardware shows in the photograph: yellow accents on the black bonnet, the GSE badge on the plate and a mesh lower bumper. The AUTO TV video also points out the yellow calipers.

All That Power Costs Energy

All that power costs energy. The 54 kWh battery gives up to 336 km on the WLTP cycle, and consumption is 18.5 kWh per 100 km, which automobile.at says is three kWh more than the standard 115 kW Mokka.

Alcantara, Yellow Stitching And A G-Force Read-Out

Inside, grey, white and yellow dominate. Automobile.at reports sport seats covered in Alcantara with GSE stitching, aluminium pedals and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

The digital cockpit combines a 10-inch driver display with a central touchscreen, and it shows vehicle-specific data such as g-forces and power figures. The AUTO TV video points to the Alcantara seats with integrated headrests, the yellow stitching and the performance read-outs.

The three drive modes are Sport, Normal and Eco, and Opel quotes a top speed of 200 km/h.

€1,500 Under Its Alfa Romeo Twin

Opel opened orders at the premiere on 9 September 2025 at €47,300 including VAT, according to automobile.at. The Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica Veloce, which shares the 207 kW powertrain, was listed at €48,500 in the same report.

A GSE technology pack costs €100 and a black bonnet €350, and there are six body colours.

Our Take: A Performance Crossover That Keeps The Practical Body

We sum up the Mokka GSE as a performance crossover that keeps the practical body. We like the rally-inspired accents on the bumpers, the bold GSE badges and the yellow brake calipers, and say the 20-inch wheels fill the arches.

On price, the video places it in premium territory for a small electric SUV. Opel’s €47,300 is €1,500 under the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce.
