The Renault 5 Turbo 3E on the Paris stand is the closest look yet at the production car. Renault calls it an engineering prototype that closely resembles the production model, with two in-wheel motors at the rear and 555 hp. A second car in original colours shows how far customers can personalise it.
It isn’t a premiere. The Turbo 3E first appeared as a show car in Paris in 2022, Renault confirmed production in December 2024 and revealed the production version in March 2025. Since then it has run at the Tour de Corse and at Goodwood.
A Mini-Supercar From Dieppe
Renault calls it an electric “mini-supercar”. It revives the 1980s R5 Turbo and Turbo 2, was developed by Alpine and is built in Dieppe. Production is limited to 1,980 numbered cars.
All Rear Wings
Square LED headlights, wide bumpers and hugely widened rear wings give it its stance. It’s 2.03 m wide on a 4.08 m body, with a carbon structure over a bespoke aluminium platform.
It’s strictly two doors and two seats. The battery sits under the floor, and the charging socket hides in a rear air intake, like the old car’s cooling duct. Inside are bucket seats, six-point harnesses, Alcantara, a rally-style vertical handbrake and twin OpenR screens.
Two Motors In The Rear Wheels
The two in-wheel motors at the rear make 555 hp and 4,800 Nm. Those are Renault’s 2026 figures; the 2025 reveal said 540 hp. Renault quotes 0–100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds and a weight of about 1,450 kg.
A 70 kWh battery on an 800-volt system gives over 400 km WLTP, pending homologation. DC charging runs at up to 330 kW, for 15–80% in 15 minutes.
When It Arrives
Deliveries start in 2027. Renault’s latest provisional price, from July 2026, is “from €160,000”.
“Renault 5 Turbo 3E embodies the boldness and spirit of innovation that have always defined Renault.”

Our Take
On its turntable, the Turbo 3E is all haunches. The body is so much wider than a regular R5’s that it barely looks like the same car.
Renault is pricing it as a collector’s piece, and the figure isn’t final. The €160,000 excludes options and may change when sales open, Renault says. With 1,980 numbered cars, a collector’s piece is exactly what it is, so anyone tempted should watch for the opening of sales. More from Renault’s stand, including the E-Space Concept, is in our Paris Motor Show 2026 hub.
